It’s an action-packed day for the legal profession when a Supreme Court justice announces his imminent retirement, but the Milbank money train stops for no one. Yet another Biglaw firm has decided to adopt the soon-to-be prevailing salary scale for its associates.

Earlier today, Winston & Strawn — a firm that brought in $981,223,000 gross revenue in 2020, placing it at No. 45 on the most recent Am Law 100 — announced that it would be matching Milbank. Here’s the salary scale that should look quite familiar to associates by now:

Class Year

Prior Salary Scale

New Salary Scale

2021

$205,000

$215,000

2020

$215,000

$225,000

2019

$240,000

$250,000

2018

$275,000

$285,000

2017

$305,000

$325,000

2016

$330,000

$350,000

2015

$350,000

$370,000

2014+

$365,000

$385,000

Because the firm’s fiscal year begins on February 1, base salaries for U.S. associates in good standing will be increased on that date.

Congratulations to everyone at the firm!
