Kline, a Philadelphia trial lawyer, commenting in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, on his $50 million gift to his alma mater, Duquesne University School of Law, which will now be known as the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University. In 2014, Kline gave $50 million to Drexel University School of Law, which is now known as the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.
