Turnover is a fact of the legal profession. Most lawyers will change firms — or law departments, or government agencies, or faculties — at some point along the way. Talent flows to its best use and sometimes that means a change of scenery.
And while carrying a huge book of business to a rival across the street could engender some bad blood, most lateral moves are handled amicably. A former attorney means a future referral, or co-counsel, or client.
On the other hand…
