Ed. note: Welcome to our daily feature, Quote of the Day.

It’s not new rocket science by any means. It’s the fact that they cannot prove probable cause.

— Kevin Reddington, an attorney for Lindsay Clancy, arguing that prosecutors failed to establish that his client was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time. Clancy’s first trial ended in a mistrial after the jury deadlocked 11–1 in favor of finding her not guilty by reason of insanity. A judge has since declined to acquit her outright, ruling that prosecutors presented enough evidence for a rational jury to find her guilty.
