kinney-recruiting-428-300×131-300×131Within the last decade a new niche has developed in the insurance business. No longer are associates needing to conduct on-site due diligence in the same way; instead, the buyer simply asked the seller to insure any representations and warranties. Most lawyers who have worked in M&A recently know about these policies. For those who are not familiar, here’s a link to an article describing how they work: https://www.forbes.com/sites/allbusiness/2019/01/23/guide-mergers-acquisitions-representations-warranties-insurance/?sh=5cd3596267f3.

What many do not know is that the companies writing and brokering these insurance policies can present a tremendous career path for biglaw deal lawyers, and that Kinney Recruiting has become a leader in staffing the teams that underwrite and sell these insurance policies, having filled many roles in this space since 2019. The lucky attorneys we have placed in these positions have found that they are able to keep a hand in headline-making M&A transactions, including all the fun, most of the remuneration, but without the endless nights and weekends.

In our latest engagement, Kinney Recruiting is again working with a premier UK headquartered (re)insurance brokerage firm to find an M&A attorney with at least 5 years of experience to join the company’s growing US operations. This firm is backed by a first class private equity firm and is one of the leaders in the field. The lucky candidate would be reporting to a senior person who we regard as one of the very best bosses we know, and would join as “Partner.”

The benefits are outstanding: great salary (base of 250K-300K), unlimited vacation time, as well as excellent cash bonus targets, other long term incentives and “European-style” benefits, such as one year of paid parental leave. A remote option is available, or you could sit in any of several US locations of the enterprise, including NYC, Boston, Miami, Atlanta or Bay Area. Expect occasional visits to HQ in London.

To be in the running for this, you will need a JD from a highly ranked school, 5+ years Private Equity / Public Company M&A experience from a top international law firm, and an entrepreneurial mindset. No exceptions.
