TOLEDO, OH — Shumaker Partner Scot A. Hinshaw has joined the United Way of Greater Toledo’s (UWGT) Board of Directors, furthering his already extensive community involvement and reflecting Shumaker’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
The UWGT raises funds and unites community support to help working families, individuals, and children in Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood Counties thrive. By identifying the areas of greatest need in each county and working with local partners, the organization takes on tough issues and builds lasting solutions that improve the quality of life for the citizens of Northwest Ohio.
In his role, Scot will work with his fellow board members to carry out UWGT’s mission to use the power of community to improve lives by helping to guide the organization’s strategy, ensure accountability, and help drive lasting change across the counties it serves.

A seasoned litigator and trusted advisor, Scot has over 25 years of experience representing clients in employment and labor law and commercial litigation matters. He has served as lead counsel in jury trials, injunction hearings, and arbitrations across the country and argued cases before both the District of Columbia and Sixth Circuit federal Courts of Appeals. His practice also includes helping clients maintain compliance with state and federal employment statutes; drafting and revising employment contracts, handbooks, and related documents; and advising clients on non-compete, non-solicit, non-disclosure, and trade secret issues.

Scot is active in the community and enjoys giving back to organizations that help make Northwest Ohio an even better place to live, work, and play. His long history of involvement includes over 10 years of service and leadership with the Rotary Club of Toledo, including his recent term as President; serving on the Boards of Directors for Girls on the Run of Northwest Ohio and the Ottawa Hills Schools Parents Association; and acting as Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Toledo Bar Association.
