Ed. note: Welcome to our daily feature, Quote of the Day.

Sexism is alive and well in Big Law. And outside of the firm and in the courtroom, too. We’ve all faced sexism, but I was shocked that it could be so blatant and insidious.

— Laura Leopard, founder and CEO of Leopard Solutions, in conversation with Vivia Chen of Bloomberg Law, where the two discussed the results of the legal intelligence company’s latest survey on the challenges women face in Biglaw. While about half (48%) of survey respondents said they saw themselves on the partner track, nearly all (90%) respondents felt “frustrated with the support they had received from their law firms.” Addressing these inconsistencies, Leopard said, “I think some of them are indeed denying what they see. Many people downplay behaviors and situations that are uncomfortable for them. They may not want to process or deal with it, so they move past it.”
