Money WreathWhen I had my campus interview with Morgan Lewis, the interviewer asked me to spell “Bockius.” Didn’t see that one coming.

There’s a certain tragedy in being too far down the letterhead. After a career working your way all the the way to seeing your name on the door, you’re usually doomed by marketing to become the answer to a trivia question. For the record, Morris Rex Bockius joined the firm as a first-year associate in 1883 and ultimately ran the joint until 1939. So let’s put the appropriate respect on that.

Anyway, Morgan Lewis… and Bockius announced bonuses on Friday. The number 10 ranked Am Law firm with $2,577,700,000 in gross revenue last year delivers the news via voicemail as opposed to memo, but we’ve been informed that it is matching the market as defined by peer firms. So…

Class Bonus
Class of 2022 $15K (pro-rated)
Class of 2021 $20K
Class of 2020 $30K
Class of 2019 $57.5K
Class of 2018 $75K
Class of 2017 $90K
Class of 2016 $105K

Given the lack of a memo, it’s not clear if the firm is joining the clutch of firms offering $115K to the class of 2015 and senior or if those folks will be getting individualized bonuses. We’ll update as we get that nailed down.

The firm requires associates post 1900+ billable hours with an additional caveat that 20 of which had to be pro bono hours. Bonuses will be paid on January 31, 2023.

Congrats on making Morris Bockius proud.

Remember everyone, we depend on your tips to stay on top of this stuff. So when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.

And if you’d like to sign up for ATL’s Bonus Alerts (which is the alert list we’ll also use for salary announcements), please scroll down and enter your email address in the box below this post. If you previously signed up for the bonus alerts, you don’t need to do anything. You’ll receive an email notification within minutes of each bonus announcement that we publish.
