Last month, I reported here that The LegalTech Fund (TLTF), the first venture capital firm devoted exclusively to law and legal technology, had announced plans for its first TLTF Summit in December — a three-day event for investors, startups and legal innovation thought leaders — together with the debut TLTF Startup Challenge, a pitch competition for legal and regulatory technology startups.

Now, TLTF is providing new details on the summit and startup challenge, which will be held Dec. 7-9 in Miami.

TLTF says that it received over 150 applications for a spot in the startup challenge. A panel of outside judges is currently vetting the applicants to determine which will participate.

Those that are selected will have the opportunity to showcase their companies to an audience of entrepreneurs, VC/PE firms, law firms, corporate legal groups and embedded corporations.

TLTF says that the summit will also include robust programming for legal practitioners at law firms and corporate legal departments. Programs will cover cutting-edge technologies in emerging areas such as privacy, IP, blockchain, AI/machine learning/robot processing automation and more, it says.

Attendance for the summit will be capped at 250 attendees. Early-bird pricing ends Sept. 30, with full-price registration starting Oct. 1. Registration details available here. Registration deadline is Nov. 23.

Initial sponsors of the summit include companies such as Thomson Reuters and Litera and law firms such as Gunderson Dettmer, Orrick and McDermott, Will & Emery. The legal media company ALM is sponsoring the Startup Challenge.

Zach Posner, TLTF managing partner and cofounder, said he is ecstatic over the response to the announcement of the conference. He said that he expects the Startup Challenge to feature “a powerful lineup of early-stage companies which represent the most original ideas, stellar leadership, and infinite potential from the applicant pool.”

TLTF says the summit will provide three concentrated days of networking, deal-making and educational opportunities, including keynotes, panels, and breakout and networking sessions.

The summit will be held at the East Hotel in Miami. All registered attendees, including investors and startup entrepreneurs, will receive access to all sessions and networking events.
