The metaverse sounds like something out of a Marvel movie, only it’s real. Well, kind of.

At a baseline level, the metaverse is a collection of self-contained virtual worlds, built around social connection. It’s kind of like “Tron,” if “Tron” involved more paperwork.

Part of the thesis of this podcast is that lawyers are late adopters of technology; but, that’s not always the case.

Mitch Jackson of Jackson & Wilson is a forward-looking attorney, who is often ahead of the curve, when it comes to legal tech.

So, we had him on to discuss the metaverse.

In this episode of the NonEventcast, we talk all about the next virtual frontier for law firm owners. We start by talking about what the metaverse means, and why lawyers should even care about it (3:41).

Mitch then covers how to set up a virtual office space in the metaverse (10:28), including how to build a professional avatar (17:56) — yes, you’ll need one of those. Finally, Jared and Mitch wrap up by talking about how to stay connected with the people you meet in the metaverse (21:56).

If you’re looking for cheap office space, that you never have to clean, maybe the metaverse is for you!

Jared Correia, a consultant and legal technology expert, is the host of the Non-Eventcast, the featured podcast of the Above the Law Non-Event for Tech-Perplexed Lawyers.
