Ed. Note: Welcome to our daily feature Trivia Question of the Day!

With the nearest real courthouse a punishing 200 miles away, which West Texas saloonkeeper (portrayed in 1972 by Paul Newman), with no legal training and exactly one law book to his name, got himself installed as justice of the peace in 1882 and started dispensing “justice” from behind his own bar?

Hint: He branded himself “the Law West of the Pecos,” and named his saloon-slash-courtroom after a British actress he idolized, and insisted he’d named the whole town after her too. (It was really named for a railroad foreman.)
